For service-based entrepreneurs who started the business... but still hate selling
How to Sell When You Hate to Sell
Stop Avoiding the Conversations Your Business Needs You to Have.
You did the hard part. You finally started the business. Now learn how to help your buyer discover what they need to know on their own, so the decision is genuinely theirs.
You don't need a different personality. You need a different way to have the conversation.
No payment. No commitment. The next cohort is limited to 10 people.
You actually did it
You started.
Maybe you talked about having your own business for years. But life kept happening.
You built a career. Raised a family. Paid bills. Took care of people. Did the responsible thing.
Then eventually, you gave yourself permission to try.
You chose the name. Built the website. Created the offer. Opened the social accounts. Maybe you even landed your first few clients.
And then you discovered something nobody puts in the "start your dream business" montage.
Getting started was one kind of hard.
Getting people to buy is another.
There may already be people you should be talking to.
The former colleague who said, "We should talk." The referral you meant to follow up with. The person who liked your idea. The prospect sitting in your inbox.
And somehow, that conversation keeps getting pushed to tomorrow.
Why?
The hidden problem
Maybe you don't have a marketing problem.
When business is slow, the natural reaction is to look for another marketing answer.
More followers. Better content. A new funnel. Better ads. A sharper website. Another lead magnet. Another course.
Some of those things may help.
But eventually, almost every marketing strategy delivers you to the same place:
A human being who might need what you do.
And then you have to talk to them.
That may be the part you've quietly built your marketing around avoiding.
Not because you're lazy.
Not because you don't believe in your business.
Not because you "just aren't cut out for entrepreneurship."
It may simply be that every version of selling you've seen asks you to act like someone you don't want to be.
Push harder. Handle objections. Create urgency. Control the conversation. Ask for the close.
And somewhere inside you says:
"I don't want to do that to somebody."
The reframe
What if selling isn't about becoming more persuasive?
What if the real job is helping another person understand their own situation clearly enough to make a good decision?
You don't need to overpower their hesitation.
You don't need to talk them into believing you.
You help them discover what is true for themselves.
That is the difference at the center of the N.I.C.E. method.
This is not "just be nice"
The buyer doesn't need another salesperson explaining their problem to them.
They need a conversation that helps them recognize the problem, understand its consequences, and decide what they want to do about it.
The familiar approach
Seller-generated conclusion
"Here's your problem."
"Here's why it matters."
"Here's why my solution is better."
"Here's why you should act now."
The N.I.C.E. approach
Buyer-generated conclusion
"Wait... maybe that really is what's happening."
"I hadn't realized what this was costing me."
"I probably do need to change something."
"I'd like to see if you can help."
See the difference
A tiny sales conversation can change everything.
Traditional approach:
"You need a better sales process because you're losing potential clients."
N.I.C.E.:
"What usually happens after someone shows interest in working with you?"
The buyer starts describing what actually happens.
"And what tends to happen after that?"
They begin noticing the follow-up gap themselves.
"How many of those conversations do you think never happen because following up feels uncomfortable?"
Now the buyer is doing the thinking. You never had to tell them, "You're avoiding sales and it's hurting your business."
They discovered it.
And a conclusion people reach themselves is different from one a salesperson hands them.
The N.I.C.E. method
Four stages. One very different kind of sales conversation.
N.I.C.E. gives you a repeatable framework for helping buyers think clearly without pressure, performance, or manipulation.
N
Notice
Understand their world before talking about yours. Ask, listen, and notice what is really happening.
I
Illuminate
Help them recognize the deeper issue in their own words rather than announcing the problem for them.
C
Cement
Help them see the real weight of staying where they are, without inventing urgency or exaggerating pain.
E
Exhale
Open the door to a possible solution and let them decide whether they want to take the next step.
Selling becomes something you do WITH someone, not TO someone.
And this is where it gets personal
This business was never only about money.
You spent years doing the responsible thing. Providing. Working. Showing up. Taking care of your family while that idea of having something of your own waited in the background.
When you finally started your business, you weren't simply saying:
"I'd like to make some extra money."
You were saying something much bigger:
"I think I can do this."
And the people closest to you saw you take that leap.
Then it got harder than you expected. The website was quiet. Leads didn't magically appear. People didn't respond. You had days when you wondered whether everybody else had figured out something you hadn't.
"I'm not going to let them watch me give up."
You didn't finally start this business just to quietly retreat when the uncomfortable part arrived.
You wanted to see what you were capable of. You wanted to build something real. You wanted the people you love to see what you could do.
You wanted to make them proud.
What if the next step isn't another marketing tactic?
What if it's simply learning how to have the conversations you've been avoiding?
The How to Sell When You Hate to Sell cohort
You don't need to figure this out alone.
HTS is a six-week small-group experience designed to help entrepreneurs become comfortable having the real sales conversations their businesses need.
Not by turning you into a salesperson. By helping you become more intentional at something you may already be good at: having genuine conversations with people you can help.
Learn · Build · Practice · Use · Get Feedback
You'll learn the N.I.C.E. framework through self-paced material, meet live each week with a very small group, build questions specifically for your customer and offer, practice the conversations, learn from other entrepreneurs, and receive feedback as you begin using the method in the real world.
Most importantly, you start having the conversations.
What changes?
You don't become a better "closer." You become more comfortable helping someone decide.
Before HTS
- You rehearse sales conversations in your head.
- You worry about sounding pushy or needy.
- You delay following up with interested prospects.
- You hope your marketing can do the selling for you.
- You talk too much when someone finally asks about your offer.
- You feel pressure when it is time to ask for business.
After HTS
- You know how to comfortably start the conversation.
- You have questions designed for your customer and offer.
- You listen for what is really happening instead of waiting to pitch.
- You help buyers discover needs and consequences for themselves.
- You can recognize when your offer fits and when it does not.
- The next step feels collaborative rather than like a "close."

The next cohort will have only 10 people
You've already done the brave part. You started.
The price has not been finalized yet, and joining the waitlist does not commit you to anything. The first 10 people who decide the cohort is right for them will make up the next group.
Add your name and you'll be among the first to receive the details when the next cohort opens.
No payment. No obligation. Just first opportunity when enrollment opens.
You didn't start this business just to try.
You wanted to see what you could do. You wanted to prove something to yourself. And maybe you wanted the people you love to see it too.
Don't let the hard part convince you the story is over.
You've already done the brave part. You started.
Now let's make it work.
A few quick answers
Before you join the waitlist
Does joining the waitlist commit me to buying?
What will the cohort cost?
Why only 10 people?
What if I hate role-playing?
How is this different from just reading the book?
